Article summary

Quantcast Measure lets you understand the audience that comes to your site. But if you want to understand the different audiences that visit various parts of your site, you need to examine the content segments one step further.

Note: Content Segments are available to Measure Pro clients only

For example:

  • What are the differences between the visitors to your Sports content and visitors to your News content?

  • Do different authors on your site attract different audiences?

  • What is the demographic breakdown of visitors to a specific article?

Note: Content Segments are available to Measure Pro clients only.

Content Segments let you understand the different audiences that visit various parts of your site.

Content Segments work by looking for specific HTML metatags in a website and aggregating the data based on those metatags. For example, if you enable Content Segments for authors, we will look for the meta tag author in the webpage and create a Content Segment for every tagged author. A webpage may have the meta tag author: John Smith, in this case, we will analyze all the visitors to that page (and any other page written by John Smith) and present the data in a Content Segment called author → John Smith.

What is a meta tag?

A meta tag is a snippet of HTML code that describes a page but does not appear on the page itself.

An example of a meta tag is: John Smith

What do I need to do to get this?

To get Content Segments, you need to do 2 things:
