Creating App and Domain Lists
There may be reasons beyond pure algorithmic efficiency for deciding what apps and domains that your ads appear on. For brand safety, you may not want to be associated with particular sites or apps that are controversial or espouse values at odds with your brand values. You can leverage block and allow lists when delivery (or non-delivery) on specific sites is critical to the campaign. We recommend using site lists sparingly, however, as they may adversely impact reach and performance.
The Quantcast Platform supports two types of lists:
Allowlist: The system will only consider bid opportunities from apps and domains on this list.
Blocklist: The system will ignore bid opportunities from apps and domains on this list.
Here is how to set up site lists for brand safety:
From the Assets section in the top navigation menu, select Inventory.
Select the Create New List button on the top right of the page.
In the window that appears, enter a name for your custom site list.
Select the Type of list you would like to build (Allowlist or Blocklist) and select Create.
To add domains, select the Domains tab. To add apps, select the App Id tab.
Note: For Android and iOS apps, this table should help you understand how to find the app id.
Platform | Identifier | Example | Where to find this ID? |
iOS & tvOS | Numeric iOS store ID auto-generated by Apple App Store. | 886445756 | https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tubi-watch-movies-tvshows/id886445756 |
Android (mobile & CTV) | Developer-defined alpha-numeric value that is unique across the Google Play store (often in a com.appname format) | com.tubitv | com.tubitv https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tubi tv |
6. You can add apps or domains manually or import a pre-defined list.
For Apps
Each item should be an app ID.
Each item should be on a new line.
You can include up to 100,000 lines.
File size cannot exceed 700kB.
App ID entries should not include the app store link. For instance, use "com.discovery.discoverygo" instead of "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.discovery.discoverygo&hl=en_US&gl=US"
App ID should not include the app name. For instance, use "com.discovery.discoverygo" instead of "Discovery GO"
For Domains
Each item should be on a new line.
You can include up to 100,000 lines.
File size cannot exceed 700kB.
URLs should not include “www.” For instance, use “nytimes.com” instead of “www.nytimes.com”.
6. Add apps or domains one at a time by selecting the Add App Id or Add Domain button and entering the URL in the popup box. Click the Add button to add it to your list.
To bulk upload your app list or domain list, select the Import button, then select a CSV file with the list of URLs in the first column and no header row. Then press Continue.
You can continue to add or import apps and domains by repeating the process detailed in step 5.
After you are finished adding apps or domains, select the Save button in the top right corner of the page.
You may now add your custom site list when you create a new campaign or edit your campaign.
