Tag Implementation
How do I install Quantcast Choice?
Please visit our Choice Universal Tag Implementation here.
Is Quantcast Choice compatible with all browsers and devices?
Quantcast Choice is compatible on desktops, tablets, and smartphones with all modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and MS Edge) that do not block JavaScript or cookies by default. The UX is responsive and will display seamlessly based on any screen size.
The Choice SDK for iOS and Android applications is supported on the one previous OS and current OS versions.
Where do I put the Quantcast Choice tag?
In the header of your website or via a tag management system. We recommend that it be the first tag so that it fires before any other tags.
How should I implement Choice tag and Prebid tag on my site(s)?
We suggest you implement tags in this sequence: CMP(Choice) first > Prebid > any other tag, to make sure the consent signal fires before all other tags. Read more about Prebid.org Support for TCF v2.0. Please contact Prebid support team for additional questions.
My website has a desktop and a mobile version (m.www...). Do I need to make any changes to the Quantcast Choice code?
No. The UX for Quantcast Choice has been built using a responsive web design approach and will display properly according to screen size.
How will Quantcast Choice impact the load time of my site?
Impact to the payload will be minimal, if at all.
Do the consent requests from Quantcast Choice only trigger for EU users?
Website owners can choose whether they want Quantcast Choice to be shown to everyone or just users from the EU. If limited to EU users, Quantcast Choice will be triggered based on the IP address of the user.
Can I implement Quantcast Choice if I am currently using another CMP?
We do not recommend deploying multiple consent solutions. First, it would lead to a poor user experience since they would be presented with multiple requests to opt-in. Second, it could create confusing consent signals for vendors if a consumer were to consent in one solution, and decline consent for the same vendor in a second solution. Finally, the conflict between the consent solutions can cause functionality errors where the UX may fail to display at all, which means it fails to capture the user’s consent.
Will Quantcast Choice have a WordPress plug-in or similar capabilities to make it easy for smaller publishers to deploy?
We’ll update the WordPress plug-in to TCF v2.0.
How does the CMP integrate with a tag management system to override / stop certain pixels from firing? Should the consumer reject certain vendors?
Quantcast is able to integrate with tag management systems similarly to how it would if the code were deployed directly on your site. Regarding consent signals, Quantcast Choice communicates user given or denied consent to the vendors that are listed within the interface and are also on the IAB Framework. It is the responsibility of the vendor to respect the consent signal that Quantcast Choice sends them.
For non-IAB vendors, publishers can use our API in order to allow or block the corresponding tags to trigger depending on the users’ choices.
Does Quantcast Choice automatically block my vendor tags from firing on my site before consent is given?
No. Quantcast Choice is a JavaScript tag, and you need to manage its sequencing on your site as you do with all other tags. From a compliance perspective, it’s recommended for the CMP to fire first, so that all other vendor tags are held from firing until a user has made a choice.
After a user has made a consent choice, Quantcast Choice will share and transmit that consent to 3rd party vendors on the IAB Framework. Then those tags will fire (or not) based on the user’s consent decisions.
How do I set up Group consent? What is the API?
Configuring the CMP to use group-level consents requires building a JSON API that handles GET and POST requests to retrieve and store the consent values. Additionally the API should properly respond to OPTIONS requests.
The API requires appropriate CORS headers for all GET, POST, and OPTIONS requests from an allowed origin (domains in your group). Make sure the following headers are included on responses, replacing values in [] as needed:
access-control-allow-credentials: true
access-control-allow-headers: true
access-control-allow-methods: get, post
access-control-allow-origin: http[s]://[your group domain]
Visual & Language Options
What does the Quantcast Choice interface look like?
Quantcast Choice offers two designs—modal (popup) and banner. You can choose the one you like from the Central Portal directly. Read more here.
What customization options are available in Quantcast Choice?
We want to ensure a seamless user experience for your website, and therefore have built support for text, font, and color customization into Quantcast Choice. The Set up section in the help center explains how to make these customizations during implementation, or adjusted them on an ongoing basis. Read more here.
Will Quantcast provide local language translations of the consent screens?
Yes. We provide language translations for 17 EU languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Danish, Greek, Hugarian, Portuguese, Romanian, Finnish, Polish, Slovak, Swedish, Russian, Norwegian.
You can customise within the Choice Central Portal, or choose auto-detect. Translations for purpose names and definitions are provided by IAB Europe and are not customisable.
Will Quantcast provide options or variations of different consent languages we can use?
We provide wording options—developed based on user testing—which site owners can opt to customise. For example, site owners can pick from three different tones of voice on the initial body text on the first screen.
What if I want to change how I customized my code later?
Quantcast Choice on TCF v2.0 offers a Universal Tag that auto-implements customisation changes made within the Central Portal, without requiring you to modify or redeploy the tag on your site. Please note that changes to the modal may cause a reprompt of the CMP.
Visit here for more information. Read more here about customizations.
Tracking & Reporting
What type of reporting is available on metrics collected by Quantcast Choice? And where can I access them?
Quantcast Choice offers consent metrics that reflect consumer interactions with the CMP. You can access them via the Central Portal directly.
Does Quantcast Choice log that consent was collected from a consumer?
Per the requirements of the IAB Europe framework policies, as a CMP Quantcast Choice maintains a log of user consent preferences based on the consent signal cookies. This log will be accessible and exportable directly from within the Central Portal of the updated Quantcast Choice.
What information is stored in the Quantcast Choice consent log?
The log captures the encoded consent string that was recorded when the user saved their consent preferences, the version of initial screen text that the user saw when consent was given, the time, the date, and the domain the consent was given on.
Can users choose to ignore the Quantcast Choice widget?
No. An unambiguous consent action is required to make it go away, and consumers cannot navigate away from that screen until they interact.
