The universal tag is the snippet of HTML/Javascript code that you will place on your website once you’ve configured Quantcast Choice. Once a site is added, you will be able to download your customized Universal Tag directly from the portal. Installation is as easy as adding any other JavaScript tag to your site.
You should place the universal tag code in the website header, before any other javascript or code that sets cookies, reads user browser information or collects user data so that you gather users’ consent through the Quantcast Choice CMP before any other tags are loaded on the page. Most tags require consent before they can be used lawfully. Tags for TCF-registered vendors should look for the presence of a CMP to adjust their behavior dynamically depending on the user’s selections. This only works if the CMP loads before any other tags.
You will only need to place this tag once and then all future edits or configuration changes to the Quantcast Choice CMP can be managed directly through the portal, without needing to redeploy the tag again.
If you deploy the Universal Tag on a site without setting it up in the ‘site’ section, the Choice CMP will not work on the site.
For step by step instructions in deploying the tag, see the How-To Use the Universal Tag document.
