A comprehensive tagging strategy sets your campaign up for success and provides robust audience insights. You should begin with the implementation of the base Q Pixel across all pages of your site unless your use of our pixel is not permitted by our Terms and Conditions. This serves as the foundation of Q Pixel tagging. The more site coverage with the Q Pixel, the stronger your custom audience model will be, and the easier it becomes to leverage all Quantcast product offerings. 

As important as it is to understand what makes users convert on your website, it is equally important for us to understand the different conversion paths that they take throughout your website, to differentiate a browser from a serious buyer.

Tagging Techniques

Key Performance Events

After the Q Pixel has been installed, you will want to identify your website’s key performance or engagement events. We’ve included some examples for various business verticals below. Any key touchpoint that a prospect may reach in the conversion funnel should be tracked uniquely. 

Depending on the type of website event that you would like to track, there are a few options for configuring this tracking. 

  1. Q Pixel Event. If the event occurs on a button, or if there is information that can be passed back to Quantcast, we would recommend using a custom Q Pixel event. This would involve the implementation of an event specific script on the site. 

  2. Rule Event. If the event occurs on a page view with a dedicated URL, it would be a good candidate for a rule-based event. Rule events can be configured within Q Pixel UI and does not require any additional scripts to be implemented on the site.

Data Passback Parameters

Scripts for standard and custom website events can be configured to capture additional data points from your site. These data points allow for even further segmentation of key website events and can be used to influence the optimization and reporting setup of your campaigns.
