Bulk Creating or Editing Campaigns

Article summary

The Quantcast Platform makes campaign creation, editing, and archiving easy. The Bulk Upload feature allows you to edit/create multiple campaigns offline, at the same time. With the bulk upload, you can edit/create budgets, dates, allowlists/blocklists, and more. In this article:

Bulk Campaign Creation

  1. On the Campaigns page, click Bulk Actions, then select Bulk Upload.

  2. In the modal window, click the Excel Template link, then open the Excel file that was downloaded to your computer to bulk create. Once you have finished, save the Excel file.

  3. Return to the Quantcast Platform. In the Bulk Upload window, click Select file.

  4. Locate the Campaign Excel file on your computer, then click Open.

Note: This step may vary depending on your computer.

  1. Your file will appear in the Bulk Upload window. Click Add another for more files or click Upload to continue.

  2. A preview of your updates will appear. Review your updates and click Import Updates.

Note: The system will notify you if there are errors in your updates. Contact [email protected] if you have any questions.

How to Create in the Offline Excel File

Things to note when bulk-creating campaigns and/or ad sets:

  • Instructions to create (tab) and column definitions can be found within the Excel file

  • Do not delete the header (first) row

  • Required fields: Campaign/Ad Set Name, Campaign/Ad Set State

  • Add NEW to the campaign ID and/or ad set ID column for each new campaign or ad set

  • Create new campaigns/ad sets at the bottom of the Excel file after your existing campaigns

  • The Campaign Objective Amount field is only supported for CPA and ROAS campaign objectives and should be blank otherwise

  • If Campaign Budget Optimization is TRUE, Campaign Budget and Campaign Start fields cannot be blank

Create a Campaign With No Ad Set

  1. The following is required in the Excel file:
    * Campaign ID: NEW
    * Campaign Name: Give your campaign a name
    * Campaign State:  Select/input the state
    * All Ad Set fields: Leave blank

  2. Fill out all other campaign fields based as desired.

Repeat these steps to bulk-create multiple campaigns with no ad sets.

Create a Campaign With One Ad Set

  1. If you are creating individual campaigns that include one ad set, the following fields are required:
    * Campaign ID: NEW
    * Campaign Name: Give your campaign a name
    * Campaign State:  Select/input the state
    * Ad Set ID: NEW
    * Ad Set Name: Give your ad set a name
    * Ad Set State: Select/input the state

  2. Fill out all other campaign and ad set fields as desired.

Repeat these steps to bulk-create multiple campaigns with one ad set per campaign.

Create a Campaign With Multiple Ad Sets

  1. If you are creating individual campaigns that include one ad set, the following fields are required:
    * Campaign ID: NEW (only on the first ad set line of the first campaign, Campaign ID should be blank for all ad set lines after)
    * Campaign Name: Give your campaign a name (duplicate the name for each new ad set line)
    * Campaign State:  Select/input the state (duplicate for each new ad set line)
    * Ad Set ID: NEW (per new ad set)
    * Ad Set Name: Give your ad set a name
    * Ad Set State: Select/input the state

  2. Fill out all other campaign and ad set fields as desired.

Repeat these steps to bulk create multiple campaigns with multiple ad sets per campaign.

Create an Ad Set for an Existing Campaign

  1. In the Excel file, insert a row after the existing campaign you would like to add a new ad set to.

  2. If you are adding an ad set to an existing campaign, the following fields are required:
    * Campaign ID: Leave blank
    * Campaign Name: Duplicate the name of the existing campaign for each new ad set line
    * Campaign State:  Duplicate the state for each new ad set line
    * Ad Set ID: NEW (per new ad set)
    * Ad Set Name: Give your ad set a name
    * Ad Set State: Select/input the state

  3. Fill out all other ad set fields as desired.

Repeat these steps to bulk-create new ad sets for existing campaigns.

How to Bulk Edit

1. On the Campaigns page, click Bulk Actions, then select Download All Campaigns.

2. Click Done in the modal window, then open the Campaigns Excel file that was downloaded to your computer and make your desired updates. Once you have finished, save the Excel file.

3. Return to the Quantcast Platform, click Bulk Actions, then select Bulk Upload.

4. In the Bulk Upload window, click Select file.

5. Locate the Campaign Excel file on your computer, then click Open.

Note: This step may vary depending on your computer.

6. Your file will appear in the Bulk Upload window. Click Add another for more files or click Upload to continue.

7. A preview of your updates will appear. Review your updates and click Import Updates.

How to Edit the Offline Excel File

1. Open the downloaded Campaigns Excel file and ensure editing is enabled.

2. Things to note when editing the Campaigns Excel file:

  • The header (first) row has definitions/guidance for each column

  • Do not delete the header (first) row

  • You can only edit the Campaigns tab

  • Each row represents an ad set in a campaign

  • If you have multiple ad sets for one campaign, you will see multiple rows with the same campaign-level information (ID, name, state, budget optimization, budget, start and end dates, etc.)

  • Read-only tabs include information you can use to update the Campaigns tab for events, creatives, site lists, IP lists, IAS prebid, DV prebid, deals, interests, and demographics

3. After you have finished updating, save the Excel file.

Excel File Definitions

NOTE: This is not a complete list. For all definitions, view the Note for each column in Row 1.

Name

Definition

Campaign ID 

The numeric ID of an existing campaign for which you have write permission.

Campaign Name

You can rename your campaign by changing the value in this column.

Campaign State

ENABLED: allow ad sets under this campaign to run unless they were individually PAUSED.

PAUSED: stop all ad sets under this campaign from running.

Campaign Budget Optimization

TRUE: indicates that Campaign Budget Optimization is turned ON for the campaign.

FALSE: indicates that Campaign Budget Optimization is turned OFF for the campaign.

Campaign Budget

Amount to reach and dynamically allocate among the running ad sets under this campaign based on performance.

Campaign Start

The campaign won't start running until this day begins in the account's time zone.

Campaign End

The campaign will stop running at the end of this day in the account's time zone. Can be left blank if the campaign budget type is DAILY.

Ad Set ID

The numeric ID of an existing ad set belonging to the campaign of column A.

Ad Set Name

You can rename this ad set by changing this column.

Ad Set State

ENABLED: run this ad set whenever the parent campaign is also ENABLED.

PAUSED: stop this ad set from serving, even when the campaign is ENABLED and other ad sets may be serving.

Ad Set Budget Type

If the budget type is DAILY, the ad set budget represents a per-day spend reach.

If it is LIFETIME, the ad set budget represents the total amount to spend between the start and end date. To use LIFETIME, you must specify an end date.

Ad Set Budget

Amount for this ad set to reach spend, either per day or in total depending on the Ad Set Budget Type.

Ad Set Start

The ad set won't start running until this day begins in the account's time zone.

Ad Set End

The ad set will stop running at the end of this day in the account's time zone. Can be left blank if the ad set budget type is DAILY.

Lookalike Events Operator

Required if Lookalike Events is set.


If it is ANY, Quantcast will reach people who look like any of the events in Lookalike Events.

If it is ALL, Quantcast will reach people who look like all of (the intersection) of the events in Lookalike Events. You can only use pixel events if ALL is selected, and the events must be under different categories (event.A and pcat.B) that fire at the same time.

Lookalike Events

Reach people who look like the people that did these events.

You can use pixel events and DMP segments.

Use semicolon (;) to join multiple events. It is acceptable to have semilon in the event name.

Use ALL_EVENTS to include all pixel events.

Use ALL_DMPS to include all DMP segments.

You can find the list of events in the Events (Read-only) sheet.

Cookieless Targeting

TRUE: indicates that cookieless prospecting has been activated for the ad set. FALSE: indicates that cookieless prospecting is not activated for the ad set.

Retargeting Events Operator

Required if Lookalike Events is set.

 

If it is ANY, Quantcast will reach people did any of the events in Retargeting Events.

If it is ALL, Quantcast will reach people did all of (the intersection) of the events in Retargeting Events. 

Retargeting Events

Retargeting people who did these events.

You can use pixel events, DMP segments, and campaign activity.

Use semicolon (;) to join multiple events. It is acceptable to have semilon in the event name.

Use ALL_EVENTS to include all pixel events.

Use ALL_DMPS to include all DMP segments.

You can find the list of events in the Events (Read-only) sheet.

Targeting Type

This column is for display only. Targeting Type is derived from lookalike and retargeting events. 

FULL_PERFORMANCE: Both lookalike and retargeting events

PROSPECTING: Lookalike events only

RETARGETING: Retargeting events only

Suppression Events Operator

Required if Suppression Events is set.

 

If it is ANY, Quantcast will not reach people did any of the events in Retargeting Events.

If it is ALL, Quantcast will not reach people did all of (the intersection) of the events in Retargeting Events.

Suppression Events

Do not reach people who did these events.

You can use pixel events, DMP segments, and campaign activity.

Use semicolon (;) to join multiple events. It is acceptable to have semilon in the event name.

Use ALL_EVENTS to include all pixel events.

Use ALL_DMPS to include all DMP segments.

You can find the list of events in the Events (Read-only) sheet.

Retargeting Window

Retargeting window must be between 1-90.  

Default retargeting window is 90 days.

Country

Which country this ad set reaches. An ad set can reach only one country, which cannot be changed after it has been set up.

Include Geos

Restrict ad set reach to only these selected places.

You can use names or standard IDs to specify states/regions/provinces/etc, cities, and postal codes. 


Examples:

  *  Colorado; NM; Phoenix, AZ

  *  state: WY

  *  region: WY

  *  area: Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN

  *  Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN

  *  Birmingham; London; Cambridge; Canterbury; Edinburgh

  *  city: Reno, NV; city: Las Vegas, NV

Exclude Geos

Prevent this ad set from running within these parts of the country.

You can use names or standard IDs to specify states/regions/provinces/etc, cities, and postal codes. 


Examples:

  *  Colorado; NM; Phoenix, AZ

  *  state: WY

  *  region: WY

  *  area: Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN

  *  Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN

  *  Birmingham; London; Cambridge; Canterbury; Edinburgh

  *  city: Reno, NV; city: Las Vegas, NV

Include Interests

Reach people who are interested in these segments.

You can reach predefined categories and keywords. Semicolons should be used to OR interests together, and separate AND conditions should be on separate lines.

Predefined categories should be distinguished from keywords by adding "(Category)" as shown in the example.

The list of predefined categories can be found in the "Interests (Read-only)" sheet. Keywords can be discovered in the interests section in the ad set form.


Example:

Careers (Category); careers; jobs

Arts & Entertainment/Music (Category); Arts & Entertainment/Television (Category)

Automotive/Vehicles/Hybrid (Category)

Exclude Interests

Do not reach people who are interested in these interests.

You can exclude predefined categories and keywords. Semicolons should be used to separate interests.

Predefined categories should be distinguished from keywords by adding "(Category)" as shown in the example.

The list of predefined categories can be found in the "Interests (Read-only)" sheet. Keywords can be discovered in the interests section in the ad set form within the platform.


Example:

Automotive/Vehicles/Hybrid (Category)

Enabled Creatives

A semicolon-delimited list of numeric IDs of existing creatives that you want attached to the ad set.

Paused Creatives

A semicolon-delimited list of numeric IDs of existing creatives that you want attached to the ad set in a paused state.

Viewability

Viewability must be a multiple of 5 between 35% and 90%. Blank cells will default to 55%


Examples:

35%, 40%, 90%, etc.

Frequency Cap

Allows you to a set max amount of times a user sees an ad in a given time period.

Frequency cap must be in the format X IMPRESSIONS/Y DAYS. Blank values means there is no cap. Cannot have below 0 impressions or above 30 days. 


Example:

1 IMPRESSIONS/7 DAYS

Site Lists

A semicolon-delimited list of numeric IDs of existing site lists that you want attached to the ad set.

IP Suppression Lists

The numeric ID of an existing IP list that you want attached to the ad set.

IAS Prebid Configuration

A semicolon-delimited list of numeric IDs of existing Integral Ad Science (IAS) prebid configurations that you want attached to the ad set.

DV Prebid Configuration

A semicolon-delimited list of numeric IDs of existing DoubleVerify (DV) prebid configurations that you want attached to the ad set.

Deals

A semicolon-delimited list of numeric internal IDs of existing deals that you want attached to the ad set.

Demographics

A semicolon-delimited list of demographic categories and buckets, please refer to sheet "Demographics (Read-only)" for all valid values.


Example:

Gender: Male; Education: College, No College; Income: $0-50$; Ethnicity (where permitted by law)
