Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the pacing spreadsheet?

It is a batch-oriented interface of the custom pacing controls available through the Quantcast Platform for Marketers UI.

It lets you customize the delivery schedule for your ad sets based on your own spreadsheet calculations. When you upload the spreadsheet, if applicable, your revisions will be applied to multiple ad sets and multiple days at once.

How do I set new budget targets?

Find the relevant ad sets across the top row and the dates down the left column. Set your new daily targets (or clear existing targets) in the NEW TARGET column. Save your spreadsheet, then re-upload it from the Bulk Actions menu in the Quantcast Platform.

Do I have to set a target for every day?

No. The Quantcast Platform will autopace any days you haven't set a specific target, in order to hit the ad set's lifetime budget goal. Unlike the Quantcast Platform UI, you won't see these changes as you edit the spreadsheet.  But after you upload it, the autopacer will dynamically reallocate any unconstrained days.

How do I tell how much of the budget remains?

The headers in the Vitals section show how much of your ad set's budget has not yet been delivered, and the sum of the planned delivery scheduled for the remaining days. As you add, adjust, or remove daily targets in the Pacing section, the scheduled amount in the Vitals section will change to reflect your overrides and the autopacer's original planned delivery.

How do I stop delivery entirely for certain days?

Set the NEW TARGET cells to 0.  A zero budget stops ads from being served and keeps autopacing turned off for that day.

How do I clear an override budget?

Clear the value in the NEW TARGET cell.  After you upload the spreadsheet, the spend for that day will dynamically be controlled by the autopacer.

Which ad sets are included in this spreadsheet?

The spreadsheet includes all ad sets that:

  • have a lifetime budget goal;

  • aren't managed by Campaign Budget Optimization;

  • ran recently or are scheduled to run soon; and

  • haven't been archived or deleted.

What does the Pacing % behind value mean in the Vitals section?

The pacing % is calculated as the fraction of the budget spent divided by the fraction of the schedule elapsed.

Can I use a different spreadsheet layout to upload new budget targets?

Yes. A minimal spreadsheet should include only new budget targets, only for the ad sets and days you mean to change. It need not have labels, but it must have ad set IDs across the top, dates down the left. The dates need not be consecutive. A blank cell will clear the target for that ad set on that date.

How does the autopacer work?

The autopacer continuously re-plans the remaining days of your campaign based on any of the following:

  • any changes you make to your ad set's overall budget

  • actual delivery

  • schedule

  • dayparting

  • daily targets

When you change any of these, it will reallocate budgets for any remaining unconstrained days to hit the overall goal. Your daily targets take priority, so if you've specified targets for all the remaining days, the autopacer will have nothing to adjust.
