Reporting: Reach and Frequency

Article summary

Reach and frequency measurement allows you to understand how many devices and households were shown your ads and how frequently the same devices and households were shown ads over a specific measurement period. Our reach model measures the deduplicated and total reach. In Platform, we offer omnichannel reach and frequency measurement of campaigns in AdsManager by device and household dimensions.

Available reach metrics

  • Device reach is the deduplicated count of devices used to access content or advertising during a measurement period.

  • Household reach is the unique count of households that access content or advertising during a measurement period.

  • Device frequency is the number of times a device is used to access content or advertising during a measurement period.

  • Household frequency is the number of times a household accesses content or advertising during a measurement period.

Data Retention

Quantcast retains data for as long as necessary to provide our Services and for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy. Aggregate campaign performance and delivery metrics will be available for up to 2 years. This excludes non-aggregatable metrics (reach, frequency, and derived metrics), which are available for up to 13 months (397 days).

Reach, frequency, and derived metrics will return 0 results for any time block with a start date exceeding the past 397 days. Note, that this applies to any date range you select in Ads Manager or Report Builder, and when using a time breakdown (day, week, or month) in Report Builder.

Note: We have deprecated web reach and web frequency metrics in Report Builder and updated device reach, device frequency, household reach, and household frequency metrics to support omnichannel campaigns.

How does privacy impact reach and frequency measurement?

To determine the number of households reached by a campaign or ad set, we rely on various signals in the bid stream. One of these signals is the IP address. Supply exchanges and SSPs determine what and how signals are shared in the bid stream. Supply exchanges and SSPs may provide the partial IP address in the bid stream for privacy reasons. Quantcast does not consider partial IP addresses in household reach and frequency measurement. This may result in a lower household reach count in some cases.
