Article summary

Excluding specific IP addresses can be an easy way to prevent your ads from showing to particular networks that are unlikely to be customers. As an example, you may want to prevent ads from being served to individuals who work at your company. The IP suppression settings allow you to enter the IP address of your company, and once saved, we will not serve impressions to individuals from that IP address.

How to exclude IP addresses

  1. IP suppression is enabled on the ad set level. You can exclude an IP list by editing the ad set.

 2. From there, scroll to the Inventory section, to see the IP suppression configuration.

  1. If you have previously created an IP suppression list, you will see it here. To create a new list, click Create a new IP list.

  1. The subsequent screen will allow you to select a name for your IP list and enter the individual IP addresses. Be sure to choose a list name that will be descriptive of the IP addresses entered.

IP addresses should be added in IPv4 CIDR format.

  1. After entering your IP addresses, click check and convert IP Entries, which will convert the IP addresses into an IP address range. After clicking, the tool will show the valid and invalid IP addresses. In the example below, only one valid IP address was entered, the other addresses were not valid, so these ranges would not be suppressed.

  1. Once created the IP list will show up in the dropdown and can be added to any ad set.

Note: Since excluding IP addresses is done on the ad set level, if you have multiple ad sets on your campaign you must edit each ad set to exclude the specific IP list you want.

Also, If you are trying to prevent your ads from showing in specific locations. You would want to exclude by geographical area instead of IP address.
